I’m back after a long hiatus, with a bizarre development. The world is dealing with the corona virus and here in the Bay Area, we’ve been instructed to shelter in place. The official instruction wasn’t much of a disruption for our family, as we had already pulled the kids out of school Thursday, the 12th (two days before schools were officially closed) stocked up on food and supplies, and decided on our own to shelter in place.
So, what am I doing here? I’ve decided to create a youtube channel called RedPantsYoga and live stream/archive some teaching. I received my 200 hr certificate in June and have been teaching steadily since August (surprisingly starting with Bikram–or Hot 26–classes, but that’s a story for another day).
The more I teach, the better I get as a teacher and I don’t want to lose my practice! (Both the yoga practice itself and the practice teaching.) So, I’m gonna teach to my laptop screen and see what happens.
Am I afraid of some things? Yes. Here is what they are:
- I’m nowhere as good as many of the teachers out there
- I hate seeing and hearing myself on video
- There are people out there who just want to know whether I’ve aged well
- My only audience will be perverts with a fetish for women in their 40s wearing pajama pants
- I’ll receive the thumbs down rating and get mean comments
Ok–got the fears out there and off my chest. Now it’s time to do some yoga.
